First Hagerstown Hose Company

On behalf of the Officers and members of the First Hagerstown Hose Company we are saddened to announce the passing of long time member Blaine M. Snyder. Blaine was born on March 3, 1933 and passed away on December 27, 2022. He joined the First Hose Company on Dec. 1, 1952 and was an active member for over 70 years. He was a veteran of the U S Army and served during the Korean War. During his time as a volunteer firefighter Blaine established himself as a go getter and was not one to leave a project go unfinished. He was involved in so many projects that it would take the rest of this page to list them. Just a few of his projects were helping to establish the Washington County 911 System, Explorer Post 321 of the Hagerstown Volunteer Firefighters Association, The First Hose Fire Museum and the Western Maryland Round Hose Museum. Blaine held the offices in First Hose as President. Asst. Chief, Lieutenant and Chairman of the Standing Committee. He was a long time delegate to the State Firemen’s Association and the Washington County Firemen’s Association. Most of all Blaine loved the Lord and his family and held them above all else. “TO LIVE IN THE HEARTS WE LEAVE BEHIND IS NOT TO DIE”.
