President Eric Smothers has scheduled his First Executive Committee Meeting of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association for Saturday and Sunday, August 26–27, 2023. The meeting will be held at the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., 12027 South Street, Libertytown, MD. The meeting will be called to order promptly at 9:00 a.m.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, 5220 Westview Drive, Frederick, MD. A block of rooms is being held for MSFA at a reduced rate. Each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 301-631-2000. Rooms are $124.00 per night plus tax, using the code Maryland State Firemen’s Association. The last day to book a room is July 28, 2023.
A Welcome Reception has been planned for Friday evening at the Urbana Volunteer Fire Department, 3602 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Come by, enjoy yourself, and have a chance to mingle with everyone.
President Smothers announced that for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday, August 26, there will be an opportunity to go shopping. Further details will be announced at the Welcome Reception on Friday night.
Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department personnel have advised that a hot breakfast and hot lunch will be available for a fee on Saturday, August 26. A continental breakfast and light lunch will be provided on Sunday, August 27.
President Smothers has announced that the dress code for Sunday, August 27, will be coat and tie.
Each Committee Chair and/or Vice Chair should be prepared to give a verbal report to the Executive Committee on the activities of their committee, as well as any upcoming events. All Committee Chairs, Organizations, and Agencies are reminded to submit their reports electronically to the Secretary’s Office at report@msfa.org no later than August 19, 2023. This gives the Data Systems Committee time to post the reports.
A copy of the agenda for Committees and EMSOF Partners reporting times will be forthcoming. You are also requested to have fifteen (15) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time, and they should be turned into the Secretary’s Office as soon as possible.
As in the past, any budget requests must be submitted to Chairman Stephan Cox at budget@msfa.org. Attached you will find a copy of the Budget Request and Amendment Form.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can stay better informed and update your members on the various emergency services issues being discussed by your association.
