2024-02-03 Reports to the Executive Committee

All Officers, Committee Chairs, and Organization Representatives:

President Eric Smothers has scheduled his February Executive Committee Meeting of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association for Saturday and Sunday, February 3–4, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company, 1410 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD. The meeting will be called to order promptly at 9:00 a.m.

For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Holiday Inn Express, 125 Newtown Blvd., Pocomoke City, MD. A block of rooms is being held for MSFA at a reduced rate. Each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 410-957-6444. Rooms are $109.00 per night plus tax, using code MSFA. The last day to book a room is January 21, 2024.

A Welcome Reception has been planned for Friday evening at the Delmarva Discovery Museum, 2 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Come by, visit the museum, enjoy some light refreshments, and have a chance to mingle with your fellow members.

President Smothers also announced that for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday, February 3, there will be an opportunity to go shopping. Further details will be announced at the Welcome Reception on Friday night.

Personnel from the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company have advised that a hot breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, followed by a hot lunch for a fee. A continental breakfast will also be provided on Sunday, February 4, along with a light lunch.

President Smothers has announced that the dress code for Sunday, February 4, will be coat and tie.

Each Committee Chair and/or Vice Chair should be prepared to give a verbal report to the Executive Committee on the activities of their committee, as well as any upcoming events. All Committee Chairs, Organizations, and Agencies are reminded that they must submit their reports electronically to the Secretary’s Office at report@msfa.org no later than January 27, 2024. This gives the Data Systems Committee time to post the reports.

A copy of the agenda for committee and EMSOF partner reporting times has been attached. You are also requested to have fifteen (15) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time and to turn them into the Secretary’s Office as soon as possible.

As in the past, any budget requests must be submitted to Chairman Stephan Cox at budget@msfa.org. Attached you will find a copy of the Budget Request and Amendment Form.

Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can stay better informed and update your members on the various emergency services issues being discussed by your association.
