All Officers, Committee Chairs, and Organization Representatives:
President Doyle Cox has scheduled the next meetings of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday, February 19th and Sunday, February 20th, 2011 at the Cordova Volunteer Firemen's Association located at 11864 Kitty's Corner Road in Cordova, Talbot County. There will be a hot breakfast served on Saturday and Sunday morning starting at 7:00 am and the meetings will be called to order promptly at 9:00 am each day.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Comfort Inn, which is located at 8523 Ocean Gateway (US-50, next to the Denny's in Easton, Maryland. To reach the hotel, from Annapolis, take Ocean Gateway/US-50 E towards Ocean City, once over the Bay Bridge proceed approximately 19 miles to Easton, once in Easton proceed to Lomax Street and make a U-Turn, 8523 Ocean Gateway is on your left. If you are traveling from Cambridge, Salisbury or Ocean City, follow Ocean Gateway/US-50 W towards Annapolis and once you have reached Easton, proceed to Ocean Gateway, the Comfort Inn is on your right next to Denny's Restaurant.
The cost is $65.00 per night plus taxes. Each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. The number for reservations is 410-820-8333. Make sure you mention the Maryland State Firemen's Association to receive your reservation and the special rate. The rooms are being held until February 11, 2011.
A hospitality event is planned for Friday evening at the Hotel at 4:00 to 7:00 pm, with lite fare and beverages and a chance to mingle for all. Also on Friday evening, dinner arrangements have been made if you would like to go to the Elks Lodge in Easton for their Prime Rib Buffet which is 6:00pm to 8:00pm, if you are interested please RSVP to Richard Smith at richard21601@yahoo.com, you can also stay after dinner to socialize at the bar and play some slots. The Cordova Volunteer Firemen's Assn will be hosting a hospitality after the meeting on Saturday in the meeting hall.
President Cox has also arranged a trip for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday; you have a choice of either shopping at Dover Mall or a day of gambling at Dover Downs, they buses will leave the firehouse at 9:00am, if you are interested in either excursion, please email Jackie Please check the attached reporting schedule for the day and order which you have been scheduled to report to the Executive Committee. If this schedule presents an extreme problem, contact the Executive Committee Chair, so that you may be re-scheduled. All Committee Chairs, and all organizations and agencies are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary at reports@msfa.org no later than February 10th, 2011. You are also requested to have twenty (20) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time. These reports should be turned in to the Secretary's Office as soon as possible so as not disrupt the meetings, and will be used for those not having the electronic capabilities.
To reach the Cordova Volunteer Firemen's Assn from the Comfort Inn, start out going north on Ocean Gateway/US-50 W toward Mulberry Drive, make a slight right onto Cordova Road/MD-309, it is approximately 5. 9 miles and is just past Clear view Road. Turn right onto Kitty's Corner Road and the firehouse located at 11864 is on your right.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of Our Great State. Look forward to seeing all of you in Cordova!
