All Officers, Committee Chairs and Organizations Representatives:
President David Keller has scheduled his first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday, August 23, 2014 and Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS Company, located at 2 Brandy Drive, Williamsport, Maryland 21795. A hot breakfast will be served on Saturday Morning, August 23, 2014 prior to the meeting for a fee. The meeting will be called to order promptly at 0900 hours, with a hot lunch being served at noon.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Sleep Inn and Suites which is located at 12426 Houck Ave, Clear Springs, MD 21722. A block of rooms is being held for MSFA at a reduced rate. Each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 301-842-0290 and group code "MSFA". Rooms are $57.00 a night for the regular room or upgrade to a suite for $67.00 per night.
To reach the hotel from the Washington Baltimore area, follow I-70 west from Frederick to Clear Spring. Take Exit 18 to Route 68 (Clear Spring Road). Make a right onto Rt. 68 and then make the first right onto Houck Ave. and the Hotel will be on your left.
A "Welcome Reception" is planned for Friday evening at the Sleep Inn and Suite Hotel between 1700 – 2100 hours, where you will have a chance to mingle with all.
President Keller announced for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday and wish to participate in a day trip, there are some options:
• The town of Williamsport is holding their annual C&O Canal day that brings in crafts, arts, and vendors to the town.
• The Premium Outlets are within a 10 minute drive from Williamsport Fire Company, also has a food court.
• The local mall is within a 10 minute drive from Williamsport Fire Company. The mall has JC Penney; Sears; Bon Ton; Old Navy; Macy's along with other stores and a food court.
Please let President Keller's wife, Vicky, know by Friday, August 15th if you are interested in any of these destinations. She will be finalizing transportation options.
Remember - All Committee Chairs, Organizations and Agencies are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary's Office at reports@msfa.org no later than August 16, 2014 and any budget request can be submitted to Chairman Stephan Cox at budget@msfa.org. You are also requested to have fifteen (15) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time and should be turned into the Secretary's Office as soon as possible.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of Our Great State.
