All Officers, Committee Chairs and Organizations Representatives:
President Jackie Olson has scheduled her first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday August 24, 2013 at the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company Activities Building, 1008 Twin Arch Road, Mount Airy, Md. 21771. The meeting will be called to order at 0900 hours and a hot breakfast will be served for a fee and lunch and dinner will be included. Reminder that this will be a ONE DAY MEETING.
The Activities Building is the large white building on the MAVFC carnival grounds. There will be NO meetings held at the fire station on this day, everything will be held at the Activities Building. Just for a reference point, the carnival grounds are located at the intersection of Route 27 and Twin Arch Road, about a mile north of I-70, and 7 miles south of Route 26.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Frederick Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, located at 5220 Westview Drive, Frederick, Maryland. A block of rooms are being held for the MSFA at a rate of $89.95 plus tax per night and each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 1-800-257-3000 or 301-631-2000 and group code "MSFA" to receive your reservation at the special rate. Deadline for reservations is August 9, 2013. To reach the hotel from 695 N follow to 70 W and take exit 53 A (I-270 S). I-270 S to exit 31B, Right on Crestwood Blvd., Second Right on Westview Dr. Hotel in on the left, if traveling from 70 E towards Frederick, at exit 53, take ramp right for I-270 South toward Washington, then proceed to exit 31B, take ramp for MD-85 South toward Buckeystown, keep straight onto MD 85 and turn right (.3 miles) onto Crestwood Blvd. (BP on the corner), go approximately .2 miles and turn right onto Westview Drive.
A "Welcome Reception" is planned for Friday evening at the Frederick Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott from 2000 to 2200 hours, with desserts and coffee and a chance to mingle for all. President Olson is also arranging a trip for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday, please RSVP to her at jolson@msfa.org or contact her at 443-871-0409 by August 15th if planning on attending that day.
All Committee Chairs, agencies and organizations are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary's Office at reports@msfa.org no later than August 15, 2013. Pleas check the attached reporting schedule for the order which you have been scheduled to report to the Executive Committee. Please note that the order of reports has changed from prior meetings so your committee may be reporting at a different time. If this schedule presents an extreme problem, contact Executive Committee Chairman Dennis Skinner, Dennis.Skinner@L-3com.com so that you may be rescheduled. You are also requested to have ten (10) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time and should be turned into the Secretary as soon as you arrive.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of our state.
