All Officers, Committee Chairs, and Organization Representatives:
President John Denver has scheduled his first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday, August 25th, 2012 and Sunday, August 26th, 2012 at the Singerly Fire Company located at 300 Newark Avenue in Elkton, Cecil County. There will be a hot breakfast served on Saturday for a fee and a continental breakfast on Sunday morning starting at 0730 hours. The meetings will be called to order promptly at 0900 hours each day.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Elkton, (this is a pet friendly hotel) which is located at 304 Belle Hill Road, Elkton, Maryland. A block of rooms is being held for MSFA at a rate of $89.00 per night and each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 410-620-9494 and group code "MSFA" to receive your reservation at the special rate, deadline for reservations is July 24, 2012. To reach the firehouse from the La Quinta Inn & Suites, go south on Belle Hill Road towards Warner Road (turn right to stay on Belle Hill Road), make a left on MD 279S/Elkton Road and follow for approximately 2 miles and firehouse in on the right.
A "Welcome Reception" is planned for Friday evening at the La Quinta Inn & Suites from 1700 to 2000 hours, with light food, beverage, and a chance to mingle for all. President Denver has also arranged a trip for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday; there will be two different avenues for you to choose from, shopping at the Christiana Mall in Christiana, Delaware or for those high rollers the Perryville Casino! Transportation will be provided, please RSVP to Robyn Sheldon-Hahn at robyn200405@hotmail.com or contact her at 443-309-1693 by August 11th. For those who wish to go on their own, brochures will be available at the hospitality room on Friday at the La Quinta. The Singerly Fire Company & Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a hospitality event on Saturday after the meeting.
Please check the attached reporting schedule for the order which you have been scheduled to report to the Executive Committee. Please note that the order of reports has been changed from prior meetings so your committee may be reporting at a different time from which you are accustomed. If this schedule presents an extreme problem, contact the Executive Committee Chair Benjamin Kurtz (bkurtz7@aol.com), so that you may be re-scheduled. All Committee Chairs, and all organizations and agencies are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary's office at reports@msfa.org no later than August 11th. You are also requested to have ten (10) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time and should be turned into the Secretary's Office as soon as possible.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of Our Great State.
