All Officers, Committee Chairs, and Organization Representatives:
President David Lewis has scheduled a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday, November 12th, 2011 and Sunday, November 13th, 2011 at the Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Company located at 32960 Old Ocean City Road in Parsonsburg, Wicomico County. The meetings will be called to order promptly at 0900 hours each day.
For those requiring overnight accommodations, arrangements have been made at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Ocean City which is located at 1109 Atlantic Ave, Ocean City, Maryland (on the Boardwalk at 12th Street). A block of rooms is being held for MSFA at a rate of $69.00 per night and each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 1-800-926-1122 and mention the Maryland State Firemen's Association to receive your reservation at the special rate. To reach the Parsonsburg firehouse from the Howard Johnson Hotel, go west on Rt. 50 towards Salisbury and travel 22 miles. Turn right Forest Grove Rd. and bear right on Old Ocean City Rd. The firehouse is on the left in approximately .5 miles.
A "Welcome Reception" is planned for Friday evening at the Howard Johnson Hotel (lower level) from 1800 to 2000 hours, with light food, beverage, and a chance to mingle for all. President Lewis has also arranged a trip for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday; plans have been made for a shopping trip and lunch at the Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach DE. Tanger Outlet Center offers more than 130 brand name outlet stores. And plus, Delaware is tax free so save $$$ and start your Christmas shopping now!!! The Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Company & Ladies Auxiliary will be offering a hot breakfast served on Saturday for a fee and a complimentary continental breakfast on Sunday morning starting at 0730 hours each day. Lunch will be available for both Saturday and Sunday for a fee. They will also be hosting a hospitality event at the fire station on Saturday after the meeting
The Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Company, 47220 Mt. Vernon Road, Princess Anne (Somerset County) will be holding its 7th Annual Fundraiser Banquet on Saturday, November 12, from 6pm until 11pm. Tickets are $25 at the door and include an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner, and door prizes. Also available will be a live auction, a Chinese auction, raffles, a 50/50, and music/dancing. Just a short drive from Parsonsburg, President and Mrs. Lewis invite you to join them for a night of fun and entertainment while supporting a local volunteer fire company.
Please check the attached reporting schedule for the day and order which you have been scheduled to report to the Executive Committee. Please note that the order of reports has been changed from prior meetings so your committee may be reporting at a different time and day from which you are accustomed. If this schedule presents an extreme problem, contact the Executive Committee Chair Wylie Donaldson (wnd281@verizon.net), so that you may be re-scheduled. All Committee Chairs, and all organizations and agencies are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary's office at reports@msfa.org no later than November 6th. You are also requested to have ten (10) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time and should be turned into the Secretary's Office as soon as possible.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of Our Great State.
