All Officers, Committee Chairs and Organizations Representatives:
President Jackie Olson has scheduled her next meeting of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday, December 7, 2013 (Please note that this is only a one day meeting, due to several events that are happening that weekend) at the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company, located at 4 S. Broadview Boulevard, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061. The meeting will be called to order promptly at 0930 hours (please not time change) and a hot breakfast will be served for a fee. The Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company will also be serving dinner after the meeting for those who are staying in the area.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Best Western Plus which is located at 6755 Dorsey Road, Elkridge, Maryland 21075. A block of rooms is being held for MSFA at a rate of $90.00 per night plus tax and each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 1-800-WESTERN (983-78376) or 410-796-3300 and group code "MSFA" to receive your reservation at the special rate, deadline for reservations is November 30, 2013.
To reach the hotel from 70 E follow to US-29 S/Columbia Pike (exit 87A), go approximately 3 miles and merge unto MD 100 E (exit 22 on the left) towards Glen Burnie, follow about 6 miles and take US -1 South (exit 6A) towards Laurel, in about a half of mile make a left onto Dorsey Road/MD-103 and take the first left to stay on Dorsey Road/MD 103, the hotel is straight ahead on the left at 6755 Dorsey road. If you are coming from the Eastern Shore, take US-50 W to I-97 N towards Baltimore, follow to MD 100 W (exit 14B) towards Ellicott City , go approximately 6 miles to exit 8 and turn left unto Coca Cola Drive , turn right unto Dorsey Road/MD-176 and follow Dorsey road about 1 mile and the hotel is on your right.
To reach the firehouse from the hotel, proceed out to Dorsey Road and make a left and follow to the first left onto Coca Cola Drive, go about a half a mile and merge unto MD 100 E towards Glen Burnie, take I-97 (exit 13 B) merge onto I-97 N on the left towards Baltimore, follow about two and a half miles and take the MD 648 N/Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. (exit 16) towards Ferndale, go approximately 4 lights (the light past the station flashing light) and turn left onto Ferndale Road, then once over the light rail tracks, turn left onto Broadview Blvd. Ferndale VFC members will be there to direct you to where to park for the day.
A "Welcome Reception" is planned for Friday evening at the Best Western Plus 1800 – 2000 hours, with light food, beverage, and a chance to mingle for all. President Olson has arranged a trip for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday; the hotel will be providing a shuttle to Arundel Mills Mall and Maryland Live Casino, with lunch at Chevys Fresh Mex. President Olson has arranged to have some items from the MSFA Store for sale and everyone is asking to bring a new wrapped toy to donate to the Angel Tree Program that provides gifts to children across the state.
Please check the attached reporting schedule for the order which you have been scheduled to report to the Executive Committee. Please note that the order of reports has been changed from prior meetings so your committee may be reporting at a different time from which you are accustomed. Please contact Dennis Skinner at 410-257-3027 if you are unable to attend the meeting so that your report can be read during your agenda time. All Committee Chairs, and all organizations and agencies are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary's office at report@msfa.org no later than December 1, 2013 and budget request can be submitted to Chairman Stephen Cox at Stephen.cox@navy.mil (https://www.msfa.org/apps/member/doc/docView.cfm?Doc_ID=319&PageNum=1). You are also requested to have ten (10) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time and should be turned into the Secretary's Office as soon as possible.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of Our Great State.
