February Executive Committee Announcement

All Officers, Committee Chairs and Organizations Representatives:

President Eric Smothers has scheduled his February Executive Committee Meeting of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association for Saturday and Sunday, February 3rd & February 4th, 2024.  The meeting will be at the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company, 1410 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD.  The meeting will be called to order promptly at 9:00 a.m.

For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at Holiday Day Inn Express, 125 Newtown Blvd., Pocomoke City, MD.  A block of rooms is being held for MSFA at a reduced rate.  Each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. For reservations, call 410-957-6444.  Rooms are $109.00 per night plus tax, using code MSFA.  Last day to book a room is January 21, 2024.    

A “Welcome Reception” has been planned for Friday Evening at the Delmarva Discovery Museum, 2 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.  Come by and see the Museum, light refreshments will be served and enjoy yourself and have a chance to mingle with all.  

President Smothers announced for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday, December 2nd, there will be an opportunity to go shopping.  Further details will be announced at the Welcome Reception on Friday night.    

Personnel from Pocomoke City VFC has advised that there will be a Hot Breakfast served at 7:30 a.m. and Hot Lunch on Saturday, February 3rd for a fee and they will also provide a Continental Breakfast on Sunday, December 4th with a light lunch.

Also, attached you will find a copy of the proposed Agenda.

President Smothers has announced that the dress code for Sunday, December 3rd will be coat and tie.   

Each Committee Chair and or Vice Chair should be prepared to give a verbal report to the Executive Committee on the activities of their Committee, as well as any upcoming events.   You are also Reminded that All Committee Chairs, Organizations and Agencies must submit their reports electronically to the Secretary’s Office at report@msfa.org no later than January 27, 2024.   This gives the Data Systems Committee time to post the reports.  A copy of the Agenda for Committees and EMSOF Partners reporting time, has been attached.  You are also requested to have fifteen (15) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time and they should be turned into the Secretary’s Office as soon as possible.  

As in the past, any budget request must be submitted to Chairman Stephan Cox at budget@msfa.org.  Attached you will find a copy of the Budget Request and Amendment Form

Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and you can update your members on the various emergency services issues that are being discussed by your association.
