Job Description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The SAFER grant Program Manager or “PM” (full-time Recruitment & Retention Coordinator) works under the supervision of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association (MSFA) Executive Director and assists the MSFA

Recruitment and Retention committee in managing the Association’s Recruitment & Retention Programs for the fire/rescue volunteers of the State of Maryland. The PM is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining a successful volunteer fire/rescue recruitment and retention program in coordination with the MSFA Recruitment and Retention committee and MSFA leadership, keeping in line with the MSFA mission statement. The PM will develop working relationships with the member departments of the MSFA in an effort to ensure communication and understanding of the needs of the departments. Working within the guidance of the Association’s current and revised strategic planning models, the PM will assist in developing, leading, and implementing comprehensive recruitment and marketing programs that will attract and retain administrative and operational Fire Company members throughout the state.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Be at least 21 years of age

Possess a current and valid driver’s license

An Associate’s degree in Fire Science and/or Fire Administration, Public Relations Mass Communications or other related discipline is required from an accredited college or university is desired. Equivalent work experience may be substituted as approved by the MSFA Executive Director.

Previous experience working in program management and recruitment and retention. Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a volunteer or combination fire/rescue system Have experience recruiting and retaining fire/rescue volunteers
