Donations "In Memory" or "In Honor"
In addition to scholarships, donations can also be made “In Memory” or “In Honor” of specific members or donations in a department’s name.
Donations can be one-time or set up as a yearly scholarship. Funds are added to the MSFA Volunteer Fire and EMS Continuing Education Fund to be awarded according to the number of applications each year.
Available Individual/Department Donation levels:
Chief $1000
Deputy Chief $750
Captain $500
Lieutenant $250
Acknowledgments of donors and their honorees will be made in the annual Convention Program Book and must be submitted no later than April 30th.”
The MSFA Volunteer Fire and EMS Continuing Education Fund is comprised of several funding sources that assist Maryland volunteers offset their higher education expenses.
Current sponsor levels:
Gold Sponsorship: $4000-5000
Silver Sponsorship: $3000-$4000
Bronze Sponsorship: $2000-$3000
MSFA-ADMINISTERED SCHOLARSHIPS
The following scholarships are administered by the MSFA Scholarship Committee:
Charlie Riley Fire/Arson Investigation Scholarship
The Charles Riley Community Service Scholarship Foundation will award a $3,000.00 scholarship for post-secondary education to a qualified candidate chosen by the MSFA for those full time students enrolled in a Fire/Arson Investigation program at a US university leading to a Bachelor’s degree.
Applicant must be an active member of an MSFA member company and must submit a letter of recommendation signed by their company President. Second priority would be a career firefighter in the state of Maryland
Applicants must have a minimum grade average of 2.5 to receive the scholarship.
Priority is given to individual candidates demonstrating financial need.
Financial Award Usage is for all direct costs. After graduation commitment is employment in Maryland for 2 years.

The Shock Trauma Board of Visitors Scholarship Award
Sponsored by the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Board of Visitors. This will be awarded annually by the Scholarship Committee to worthy applicants in Emergency Medical Health Services Programs. Levels of support are determined annually by the Committee. Funds available vary each year.
The Delmarva Power Scholarship Award
Sponsored by Delmarva Power. The current level of support is $4,500.00 per academic year.
