SAFER Grant Contractor Job Announcement: The application period for the
Northern Maryland Regional Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for Kent, Harford,
Cecil, Baltimore, Carroll counties has been extended to November 15th. Please see the
attached announcement. If you or someone you know is currently involved in recruitment
in any of those counties, we would love to hear from you!

MSFA Name Change: The Name Change Survey that was disseminated over the
past month is now closed. Taskforce Chair Teresa Crisman will compile the data
and report the findings to the Executive Committee for review. Once this is done,
the findings will then be published for the member companies.
President Kurtz continues to ask that member Departments and Associations be patient
with the process and not create negativity around what should be a positive endeavor.
–Taskforce Chair Crisman is in the process of scheduling the in–person and online open
forums to discuss the pending name change and will get that information out to you as
quickly as possible.
–As a reminder, President Kurtz has asked that NO NAME CHANGE PROPOSALS
BE SUBMITTED until after January 1, 2023.
MSFA Mentorship Program: Please be advised that Regional and County Recruiters
have been invited to attend the rollout of the new MSFA Mentorship Program on
November 5th at MFRI College Park. Once this Train the Trainer session is complete, full
rollout to the regions will begin. If your department is interested in holding a regional
training on the program, please contact SAFER Program Manager Heather Gorski
(hgorski@msfa.org ) to coordinate.
Mental Health Training: If your department would like to host a mental health
awareness presentation, please reach out to Teresa Crisman at tacrisman@hotmail.com
or PP Dave Lewis at dlewis533@comcast.net for content that is appropriate for your
members.
MSFA Committee Notices:
Reminder: If you are a committee chair and would like to have your website page
enhanced with additional resources/graphics and/or with fillable forms for
applications, etc, please submit the requests to me as soon as possible. We are in the
process reviewing the websites for items that need updating/enhancing to create a
more user friendly experience for our membership.
The MSFA Cancer Committee has announced its 2023 Walk of Hope in Annapolis which
will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023. They hope to have an excellent turn out again
next spring!
The MSFA Ways and Means Committee reminds all departments that the 2023
Convention $10,000 Raffle tickets have been distributed to all Executive Committee
members. Please be sure to contact them to get your tickets!
