Passing of Pamela Ann Bond (nee Cross) daughter of MSFA Past President George Cross

On Saturday May 20th, 2023, Pamela Ann Bond (nee Cross) of Salisbury, MD, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56.

Pam was born in Towson, MD, to Patricia Cross (nee Engle) and George Cross, Jr., on February 23rd, 1967 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

She is survived by her three children: Kari Bennett (Justin Bennett), Bradley Kent, Jr. (Tia Kent) and Alyssa Kent (Ashlynn Thompson); her five grandchildren: Hannah Seifert (13), Aubree Seifert (11), Emily Seifert (8), of Michael Seifert; Madison Bennett (7) and Colton Bennett (4) of Justin Bennett; her former husband and father of her children: Brad Kent Sr.; her father: George Cross, Jr.; her two siblings: Michelle Malin (Gregg Malin) and Brian Cross; her four nephews: Aaron Malin, Jeremy Malin, John Malin and James Banks; her niece: Anna Banks; her closest cousin and childhood friend: Lauren Pinder (Dale Pinder); and countless other loved ones.

Pam rejoins her mother Patricia Cross; her two aunts: Jane Cross and Eleanor Cross; her grandparents: George Cross, Sr., Jeanette Cross (nee Beall), William Engle, Sr., and Gertrude Engle (nee Rudroff); and her former husband: Timothy Bond.

She received her diploma from Dulaney High School in Dulaney Valley, MD and graduated with the Class of 1985. She also obtained her Registered Nurse certification from Macqueen Gibbs Willis school of nursing, a program at Chesapeake Community College in Wye Mills, MD.

Pam grew up volunteering with the Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, where she spent countless hours alongside her father, George Cross, Jr., (President of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association in 1995) and later her sister, Michelle. She served as an EMT with the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department and participated annually in the MSFA convention, held in Ocean City, MD. She truly was devoted to taking care of others when they were in need of help.

Although she is no longer physically with us, she remains in our hearts and minds in countless ways.

As you’re listening to the radio and a Bon Jovi, Nickelback, Pink Floyd or White Snake song comes on, you’ll know she had likely requested it some way, somehow. Whenever you smell the aroma of spaghetti cooking on the stove and throw on your “sketti shirt”, you’ll think of how it will never be as good as Pam’s; no one’s recipe could ever compare. If you choose to welcome a new furry friend into your family, consider adopting; she was an advocate for “adopt don’t shop”. When you’re flipping through TV channels and see a rerun of Buffy, Angel or Charmed, consider watching it as she would never miss an episode. As the Ravens play and (hopefully) win many many Super Bowls to come, Pam will be right there with you wearing purple cheering them on. When choosing a gemstone for a piece of jewelry, consider an amethyst; her beauty will forever shine through them. As you feel the uncontrollable urge to laugh, she is laughing ten times as hard (guaranteed). When you open your Bible, know that Pam has read those same words and studied it countless times; the scripture was truly her safe haven.

Days and moments will pass us by, and the sun will rise and set as usual, but the memories will forever remain.

There will be a public service at Pittsville Fire Department on Thursday, June 1st 2023. Doors open at 11am with the service to begin at noon and a provided lunch to follow.
