Award Description:

The Francis L. Brannigan Instructor of the Year Award was first established by Professor Francis L. Brannigan in 1977. Professor Brannigan was the first and longtime Professor with the Montgomery College Fire Science Program and a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. This award is presented annually by the Chesapeake Society of Fire and Rescue Instructors in recognition of an individual or group contribution to fire, rescue, and emergency medical services training and education in Maryland.

Award Rules

1. In order to be considered for the award, the following should be addressed in the nomination:

a. The contribution during the previous calendar year with any specific information related to fire, rescue, and EMS training and education.

b. The contribution made to fire, rescue, or EMS training and education during the years prior to the previous calendar year.

2. Nominees do not have to be members of the Maryland fire and rescue service or the Chesapeake Society of Fire and Rescue Instructors to be considered.

3. Nominations should be sponsored by a charter member and submitted in a narrative format with as much specific information as possible to:

The award is presented at the Annual MSFA Convention and Conference.
