All Officers, Committee Chairs, and Organization Representatives:
President Doyle E. Cox has scheduled the next meetings of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday, April 9th, and Sunday, April 10th, 2011 at the Friendsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department located at 122 Walnut Street in Friendsville, Garrett County. There will be a hot breakfast served on Saturday for a nominal fee and a continental breakfast on Sunday morning starting at 0730 hours. The meetings will be called to order promptly at 0900 hours each day. To reach the Wisp Resort take I-70 West towards Frederick, follow approximately 91 miles and merge onto I-68 West towards Cumberland proceed 66 miles and take Exit 14A (US-219 S) towards Oakland. Follow US 219S for approximately 12 miles and turn right onto Sang Run Road and turn left onto Marsh Hill Road, the WISP resort is on your right.
A hospitality open house event is planned for Friday evening at the Wisp Resort starting at 1800 hours, with light food, beverages, and a chance to mingle for all. More details to come on activities for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Wisp Resort, which is located at 296 Marsh Hill Road, McHenry, Maryland. The cost for the hotel is $69.00 per night. Each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. The number for reservations is 301-387-4000. Make sure you mention the group code which is "Fireman" to receive your special rate.
To reach the Friendsville Social Hall from the hotel, go one mile on Rt. 219 North and make a left onto MD route 42 (at the public safety bldg) and proceed about 7 miles, then turn right onto 1st Avenue, follow to stop sign, turn right again and go one block and make a left. Follow to Walnut Street, make a right and the fire hall is located at 122 Walnut Street, parking is available behind the building.
Please check the attached reporting schedule for the day and order which you have been scheduled to report to the Executive Committee. If this schedule presents an extreme problem, contact the Executive Committee Chair, so that you may be re-scheduled. All Committee Chairs, and all organizations and agencies are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary Jackie Olson at reports@msfa.org no later than April 4th. You are requested to have ten (10) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time. These reports should be turned in to the Secretary's Office as soon as possible so as not disrupt the meetings, and will be used for those not having the electronic capabilities.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of Our Great State.
