All Officers, Committee Chairs, and Organization Representatives:
President Roger Powell has scheduled the next meetings of the Executive Committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association for Saturday, April 17th and Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at the North East Volunteer Fire Company located at 210 South Mauldin Drive in North East, Cecil County. There will be a hot breakfast served each morning starting at 0745 hours and the meetings will be called to order promptly at 0900 hours each day.
For those desiring to stay overnight, arrangements have been made at the Best Western, North East Inn which is located at 39 Elwoods Road in North East, Maryland. To reach the hotel, take I-95 to exit #100 – MD 274/Rising Sun and at the first light turn left onto MD 272/North East Road. Make first left onto Old Bayview Road and the hotel is on the left. The cost for the motel is $70.00 per night plus taxes. Each individual is responsible for making their own arrangements. The number for reservations is 1-800-WESTERN or 410-287-5450. Make sure you mention the Maryland State Firemen's Association to receive your reservation and the special rate. The rooms are being held until April 10, 2010.
A hospitality event is planned for Friday evening at the Hotel at 1800 hours, with lite fare and beverages and a chance to mingle for all. President Powell has also arranged a trip for those not participating in the meeting on Saturday; more information to come. A hospitality is planned for Saturday after the meeting hosted by the North East Volunteer Fire Company.
Please check the attached reporting schedule for the day and order which you have been scheduled to report to the Executive Committee. If this schedule presents an extreme problem, contact the Executive Committee Chair, so that you may be re-scheduled. All Committee Chairs, and all organizations and agencies are reminded that your reports must be sent electronically to the Secretary at reports@msfa.org no later than April 10th, 2010. You are also requested to have twenty (20) copies of your report prepared for distribution prior to your reporting time. These reports should be turned in to the Secretary's Office as soon as possible so as not disrupt the meetings, and will be used for those not having the electronic capabilities.
To reach the North East Volunteer Fire Company from the Best Western, go right onto Old Bayview Road and turn right onto Joseph Biggs Memorial Highway/Rt 274. Stay on Rt 273 approximately 3.2 miles and turn left onto E. Roney Ave/Roney Ave and follow to S.Mauldin Ave/MD 272, make a left and the firehouse is on the right.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings of the Executive Committee so that you can be better informed and updated on the various emergency services issues, to better serve the citizens of Our Great State. Look forward to seeing all of you in North East!
